Bio: Did my first tri in 1990. Raced 4-6 triathlons per year until 2002 when I broke a bone in my foot. I stopped running at that point and concentrated on bike tours in Colorado, RAGBRAI, and tandeming with my wife.
In 2013 I got back into triathlon and did my second ever half iron distance race. In 2014, I did a couple of shorter races and then did a 70.3 as a warmup to Ironman Wisconsin. In 2015 I did two 70.3 races and several shorter races before competing in Kona. In 2016 I took a break from long distance racing and competed in Olympic and sprint triathlons including USAT Nationals in Omaha.
Career Highlight: Finishing an Ironman race. In the 1990’s that was something I never thought I’d even try, let alone finish.
Why I Tri: I started for the challenge of doing better than I had done before. Now that I’ve been in the sport a long time, the challenge is more about coming as close as I can to the finish times that I used to post.
“A” Race or Goal: Ironman Louisville in October with a goal to finish on the podium.
